Happy Eurovision week....NOT!
Ah, it’s Eurovision week, and even worse, it is happening in the city where I decided to move years ago. But let’s not start this post on the wrong note. I don’t hate Eurovision — I hate what it has become and what the EBU has made of it. The boycott continues and will continue for as long as needed, even though I am convinced that the damage caused so far is practically irreversible. So yeah, a big round of applause for Martin Green, who has played a huge role in the mass destruction of this contest.
As usual, Israel started once again with the aggressive campaign they have been using since 2024, and when people started complaining, the EBU finally said, “Hey, tone it down a bit, remove those commercials,” even though this is yet another strike in the countless rule violations this so-called nation has committed.
Today, the New York Times published a full investigation on how easy it was for Israel to manipulate the televoting, and they even showed a clear example by revealing the number of televotes received in Spain last year. The article also unveils the EBU’s bias and their efforts to keep Israel in the competition despite the mass withdrawal threats from several nations.
The timing of the article was very well thought out. However, I don’t think this will change anything. As usual, Mr. Green denied everything when asked about it. I swear, why didn’t this guy go into politics?
Some interesting tweets have also started appearing recently, suggesting that the replacement of Martin Österdahl with Martin Green could actually have been done on purpose, since Österdahl reportedly had no issue formalizing Israel’s exit from the competition. But who knows what really happened behind closed doors.
I don’t follow the contest anymore, even though I have listened to some of the songs. I don’t care who wins, but what I know for sure is that Israel is there for another steal — at least a televote steal. And if they decide to take the next step and bribe some jurors, who knows. I guess you guys will wait and see.
For those of you who still decided to follow the contest, I wish you good luck, because we all know the nerves you will go through during the final night televote reveal. And for those who decided to skip it all like me, you are amazing, and you are the TRUE fans of this competition.
